Solar lentigines
(Age/Sun Spots)
Age/sun spots are caused by an excess production of melanin due to skin aging, sun exposure or other forms of ultraviolet light exposure e.g. sunbeds. They are most likely to develop on the areas of your skin that receive the most sun exposure, including the face, back of hands, chest, shoulders and forearms.
Age spots range from light brown to black in colour. The spots have the same texture as the rest of your skin, and usually appear on sun-exposed areas. They do not cause any pain.
